Scottish Broadcasting Corporation?

This’ll perhaps be less of a Green post. The Scottish Broadcasting Commission (special prize for ridiculously long domain name) has recommended the formation of a non-profit, publicly funded TV network for Scotland, with “an extensive and innovative online platform” to provide, among other things, “competition for the BBC”.
This could be quite an interesting venture, Scotland does already have a distinct media voice through radio and the press, so there is clearly a space for a uniquely Scottish voice in television. The “Scottish network” could even go somewhere to reducing the isolated view-point that often comes across in UK wide domestic broadcasting if it has something along the lines of Eòrpa.
But I’m always concerned that things like these are just attempts by the SNP to take easy shots at the UK wide institutions. It is reassuring to see that the report recommends that broadcasting remain fundamentally at the UK level. Though even with that concession, I’m not sure what the chances of this being taken seriously by the UK government are.
