A Weekend In Sweden

It always seems to be the case that I go along without doing much for ages, then everything happens in one week. This weekend I’m in Malmö for a European Greens meeting, then all next week I have exams and a parental visit. Still, I can’t complain, Sweden is lovely, and I’m pretty confident about the exams.

Wired

Ok, so I’m wired on caffeine and adrenaline right now. I’ve done last minute campaigning this morning, and just got back from my local army base which is serving as a polling station today. Needless to say, I voted Green (as you should too).

I haven’t really got much of an idea what to do now though. Parliament is having a day off so there isn’t much to do in the office there, and I’ve done pretty much all I need to do before the time I’d normally have finished eating breakfast, with my only remaining commitment being the collection of A-boards from polling stations at 22h. I wonder how many other party activists are like this across the country.

A Simple Task

Who’d have though organising a little thing like an international political youth conference with no budget would be difficult! This has been the dominant activity of the past week. To be honest, while it is hard work, it’s also quite a lot of fun. I wouldn’t do it otherwise. Anyway, next weekend I’ll be welcoming young greens to Edinburgh to take part in the third Inter Isles Young Greens ‘get-together’ (yes, I do insist on using ‘get-together’ in place of conference).

The coming week will be doubly hectic. On top of the get-together, I have a couple of essays due on the 14th and 20th, and a postgraduate study application due on the 23rd. Hopefully I won’t burn out before everything is done. Anyway, today has been my last full day in Edinburgh. Tomorrow I’m driving down to Manc. to get stuck into a to-do list almost as long as my scarf.
